The most famous episode of Cesenatico is the one linked to Leonardo da Vinci.
The great scientist, called by Cesare Borgia in 1502 to supervise the infrastructure of his duchy of Romagna, did not design the port, but made a sketch to examine the problem of the burial. As a solution he proposed to build a barrier with movable doors, however with the sunset of Cesare Borgia it prevented the realization of the project. To confirm all this, there are notes known as Codice L, where Leonardo designed the view of Cesenatico, preserved in the library of the Institute de France in Paris.
